Twin Falls

Waterfalls. There’s something tranquil about the way the water flows down from a hill or a crevice in the side of the mountain. The tumbling of the water into the stream or river at the bottom is satisfying. It fulfills the source of those white noise speakers for sleeping. One of my favorite hikes surrounds a waterfall, the entire path containing the echo of the rushing water in the stream below. It’s so peaceful as during the summer, if you go early enough, the only sounds that you can hear are birds chirping and the water.

Summer hikes are my favorite. I love the way the sun tries its best to break through the heavy and thick foliage and the breeze tickles the branches. Along the way, there are multiple stopping points where you can take in the view, the waterfall getting just a bit taller each time.

When you are finally around the corner from the summit of the hike, the waterfall is louder than ever. One turn and you are blessed with the most perfect views. The way the sun hits the water just right, sending a spray of the imitations of a rainbow in the air. Your face gets a breeze of water, cooling you down after the hike. The entire twin falls hike is only 2.5 miles long, and doesn’t take that long to complete. Though the view that you get is totally worth it to go there repetitively.
It is a loop trail, meaning that you go up one way and come down through another path. It’s like circling the waterfall, and you are able to get two different views! Sitting at the top of the trail, at the peak is pure bliss. When you close your eyes you can practically feel the spray of water on your face, cold and startling in the dry summer heat. Your hair is limp on your head, and you can feel your chest rising and falling. It’s an exercise that’s complete joy, the exhilaration satisfying and the walk back down full of triumph. The reason I love hikes so much is the view at the top makes it all worth it. There’s countless other ones I want to try.
